Citric acid is freely available in citrus fruits and leaves. This chemical is freely soluble in water. Chemical formula of this compound is C6H8O7 and molecular weight 192.13. As the compound is hygroscopic in nature, it should be kept in moist free packs. Citric acid is extensively used in preparation of sour and acidic foods, soaps, washing powders and hair shampoos.
